During a 2003 fundraising campaign in which donations to the South Madison Community Foundation were matched $2 for $1 by Lilly Endowment, Dr. Robert Begley and Mrs. Linda Begley donated $10,000 to open a fund to benefit South Madison County’s future.
Under Foundation investment, the seeds of charity planted by Dr. and Mrs. Begley grew and grew. As of the fund’s 20th anniversary in 2023, the Begley Legacy Fund is valued at close to $80,000. It has funded grants of over $18,000 to ten different organizations.
Dr. and Mrs. Begley have now passed on. The legacy they began in 2003 lives on, still aiding the community they loved in ways they might only have imagined.
